Climate change is becoming a real and immediate threat, as we are experiencing more frequent extreme temperatures and prolonged heatwaves, large-scale wildfires, and periods of drought affecting communities, ecosystems, and economic activities. The growing intensity of these extreme natural events is a consequence of human activity and increases the urgent need for responsible, collective action by adopting more sustainable habits and supporting initiatives that help protect our planet. Every small action counts and can make a meaningful difference in building a more balanced future for generations to come.

Small actions, big impact

In our daily lives, we can all adopt simple habits that help reduce our environmental impact:

• Reduce the use of single-use plastics and choose reusable alternatives whenever possible;
• Do not litter, and dispose of waste correctly by separating it for recycling;
• Save water and electricity through mindful consumption;
• Choose sustainable means of transport, such as walking, cycling, or public transport;
• Prioritize locally produced and seasonal products to reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation and cooling;
• Minimize food waste by planning purchases more carefully and making the most of the food you buy;
• Choose to buy second-hand clothing or garments made from recycled materials, as the fashion industry is one of the world’s most polluting industries.

TP’s sustainability commitment

At TP, we believe that sustainability is built through concrete actions and the active involvement of all our employees. That’s why we regularly organize environmental volunteering initiatives, as well as awareness campaigns that promote and support NGOs in need of volunteers and donations.

Our volunteering activities are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Sustainable Cities and Communities. This year, our key initiatives included planting more than 100 trees and organizing beach clean-ups, where our teams collected more than 1,050 cigarette butts and 11 kilograms of litter.

Our commitment to environmental sustainability also extends to our largest annual event, Arraial, held at Lisbon’s Estádio da Luz. We successfully ensured that all waste from the event was sent for recycling and we reused 50% of the event materials. In addition, for the second consecutive year, the carbon emissions generated by the event will be assessed and neutralized through investments in the restoration of Portuguese forest areas, to reduce the environmental impact.
